Shipping & Handling Instructions for K-MASS® Coated Equipment
K-Mass® is a tough, durable, weatherproof intumescent epoxy coating which is inert to virtually all chemicals used in industrial plants and petrochemical processes. When cured, the epoxy is hard but can crack when mechanically or thermally over stressed.
To prevent damage to the surface and the coating itself during shipping, handling and installation, the following precautions should be observed:
- Protect K- Mass® from hard mechanical impact.
- Set equipment down carefully. Never drop K-Mass® coated parts.
- Do not drop any heavy objects (hammers etc.) onto K-Mass® coated equipment.
- Avoid twisting, bending, flexing or similar distortions.
- Never use chains or cables, when lifting or handling equipment coated with K- MassĀ®. Use only fabric lifting straps!
- Do not over tighten bolts.
- When shipping, use fully enclosed crates and/or secure the equipment on pallets.
- Stabilise uneven areas under the equipment with foam blocks to prevent damage from shifting during transport.
- Provide padding to protect painted surface from abrasion.
- Keep ambient temperature below 65°C (150°F).
- Store under cover in a dry place.
