For the best in fire protection, K-Mass® Conduit fittings are available for most every application, including the K-MASS® "stub-up."
In many refineries and petrochemical plants, it is common practice to run underground critical cables for emergency shutdown equipment. Although an effective method to protect the cables, a problem arises when making the transition from the underground cabling to above ground.

In response to this dilemma, Thermal Designs® has designed and produced a method of smoothly making this transition. This includes a fireproof splice box, as well as protecting the riser conduit and cable glands from the effects of a severe hydrocarbon fire. We call this method a K-MASS® "stub-up."

The stub-up consists of clamshell-style conduit protection, held in place with stainless steel bands, either a GUA fitting (by Crouse Hinds) or a K-Cab® by Thermal Designs®, with our K-MASS® connector protectors to protect the cable glands. All these parts can be custom ordered to fit your particular application. Sizes for the GUA fittings range from ½" NPT to 2" NPT.
